Nice to meet you

I am Masa (they/them), former fashion student, now freelance illustrator and tattoo artist who also happens to enjoy making merch.

Art for me is a way to explore myself. I like experimenting with fun colors and textures, seeing my own style shift and evolve as I get to grow and know myself better.
I have experience working on personal illustrations, character design, comics, merchandise and logo design. I have been working for numerous private clients requesting illustrations for both personal and commercial use, book covers and personalized merchandise.

Other hobbies of mine include making music, watching movies, analog photography, cooking, mahjong and coding, which I’ve been dabbling in ever since I was a teen, but picked up more seriously in more recent years.
I often find myself longing for the old internet days, they are a precious memory from my childhood… It makes me really happy whenever I come across personal websites and forums that exacerbate pure love and personality. This website is my own little contribution to this feeling :]

I am also really into rhythm games, denpa, VNs, Splatoon, Silent Hill, The X-Files, the horror genre as a whole and old RPGMaker games like IB, Yume Nikki and .flow, which shaped me a lot in my teens. I like collecting merch from media I’m into, vinyls, stuffed toys, videogames and sometimes figures. I have two cats (and three more at my mother’s place). I would also like to get a giant African snail, a beetle, and build a self-sustaining nanoaquarium with all of its little flora and fauna, in the future (terraria, vivaria and nanoaquaria are another big passion of mine).

I love bread, bugs and sea creatures.

About the website

MEZU☆MASA is a personal website that I started mostly as a creative outlet/passion-driven side-project while continuing to work as an artist (*・ω・)

I used to have a website for commissions and general business contact, but I wanted more out of it, which wasn't an available option considering the platform I was relying on. Thus, MEZU☆MASA was born.
Coding has always been a hobby of mine, in the last couple years I picked it up again in order to combine business with having fun and deepening my knowledge of something I have always enjoyed

I wanted to create a digital haven to showcase my work and perhaps get people to know me better as a person..? I am pretty shy, not very talkative, and have always been quite bad at introductions (especially short ones). My presence on social media is ghost-like and I hardly post anything personal, I mostly just use them to have somewhere to share my art and see other people's.
It's... quite tiring, honestly. I'd much rather quietly exist in my own little corner of the web.

These past few years I've been feeling more and more the nostalgia of the old internet, personal websites, having to introduce yourself on a forum you just signed up on (although, ironically enough, that had always made me uncomfortable...) and the such, I missed having a space on the net to truly call yours, where you can express yourself to the fullest. And so I carved it.

Aside from its role of portflio showcase and contact centre, I view this website as the place where my digital heart resides.

I still struggle a lot with not keeping to myself, but if you have ever wondered who's the person behind the artist, this is the place (＿ ＿*) Z z z
